Start when their small...

I try as much as possible to get Ensaf and Jamil to pray with us even if its for two seconds and they go through the motions, they slowly have been able to catch on. They know to move from every position when Allahu Akbar is pronounced for example. I made an effort when I was in Palestine to buy them their own prayer mats and head apparel. They really get into it when they have to dress up and prepare themselves. We are currently working on Ayat Al Kursi and Surat Al Ikhlas. Ilhamdiallah they have learned Al-Fatiha and Surat Al Nas. They have also learned basic facts such as when I ask them these specific questions they know the answers now.

1. Min Rabak? Allah SWT

2. Min Nabeek? Mohammad SAW

3. What is Kitab Allah? Al Quran

4. What is your religion or Sho Deenak? Al Islam

5. Where is Al Quds? Falasteen

6. Where is Al Kaaba? Mecca

7. What is the Kalima? Eshadu La Illaha Il Allah Mohammad Al Rasul Allah

And more then anything consistency with these simple recitaions and questions has ilhamdiallah made it stick!

  1. Amazing Linda!! I love the questions and answers, and I should get Tristan a small prayer rug too that's all his own that he can keep in his room and bring out when we pray together.
